Alice X. Zhang
Recreations

These were some of the first Doctor Who paintings I did. In 2013, I had moved to Ogden, Utah and had an empty apartment. I painted a few simple Doctor Who paintings because I wanted to add some color to the walls. When those paintings got a bit of positive attention on Twitter, I decided to paint more.

In early 2014, I fell in love with Alice X. Zhang’s art and decided to see if I could paint them myself. My uncle does this all the time - he sees a painting he likes and he recreates it. It’s how he’s taught himself how to paint. So, these paintings were my playground for developing some of the color and layoring skills. I’m no where near the talent of Alice, but her style has been a huge influence on me. Up there with Van Gogh and other artists.
